Chairman's Statement - Q1 Update
Club News
5th October 2022

As we reach the end of the first quarter of the season, I thought now would be a good time to give some updates both on and off the field.

On the field, we have had an incredible start to the season. Coming into tonight’s game, we are in the position that a win will see the club be top of the league. So far, we have the best away record of any team in the entire SPFL, scoring a mammoth 10 more goals away from home than any other team in cinch League 1.

Whilst we are aware this is a great position to be in, the first thing we review after every game is building a gap between ourselves and the bottom 2 places in the league. After gaining promotion, the first objective is to consolidate in League 1 and see where we can go from there.

The management, staff, and players deserve a lot of praise for the way they have stepped up after our promotion and although there have been some bumps on the road, the position we find ourselves in is truly a credit to them.

Everyone appreciates the support and hopefully, with our performances and league position, we will attract even more support along.

Our FC Edinburgh Women’s team is also enjoying success, scoring 33 goals in 7 appearances, conceding only 2. This is a testament to the hard work put in by all the team here too and proves the overall success of the club across our teams.

Off the field, admittedly it has been a hard few months.

The supporter experience at Meadowbank has been our biggest issue and as I have previously stated, we understand the concerns and we continue to work on these.

We have now held numerous meetings with Edinburgh Leisure, Edinburgh Council, and all major stakeholders at Meadowbank, and are now at the stage of getting quotes for putting a spectator area closer to the pitch to provide an improved experience.

Our stand is still going to be on hold for a while yet, but we are determined to get something in place sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, as there are so many different obstacles and groups involved, this continues to be a slow process.

I will give an update as soon as we have a definite plan in place.

Meanwhile, let’s get behind the boys tonight and give them the support they deserve, helping them to continue the great work they are doing.

Thanks again for all your support.
